About Me
Hello! I am Georgina, I am an Integral Eye Movement Therapist.
I have always been extremely passionate about helping people, especially mental health and wellbeing.
I stumbled across IEMT through a personal experience and was instantly fascinated. I had to do this, the impact was so powerful and the personal benefits i found from having this form of therapy meant that i had to learn how to do this for other people.
And Here I am!
IEMT What is it?
Integral Eye Movement Therapy is classed as a "rapid change therapy", this is because generally results are quite quick, clients tend to experience a noticeable change in their thoughts, feelings and emotions within a short space of time.
What does it help with?
Unwanted thoughts feelings and emotions,
depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD, eating disorders, fears, phobias, anger.
What do I need to do?
In most cases 1-3 sessions is recommended.
The therapy consists of carrying out numerous eye movement techniques that are guided by the practitioner. You do not always need to share your problem for the therapy to still work.
How does it work?
At some point during our lives we have learned to feel this way, IEMT works by detaching those feelings and emotions that have been imbedded and detaches them from the memory.
The Neurology behind IEMT is accessible online, or can be spoken about with your practitioner.
Depression
It is quite normal to experience waves of feeling, just not quite right, a little unhappy or sad, we are only human!
But depression, feeling sad, low mood, lack of motivation for a longer period of time can have a real impact on our lives. Leading to impacting our relationships, career, healthy lifestyle.
Quite often this depressive state of mind links back to moments, things that have happened, feelings of guilt, shame, remorse, regret.
Through the help of your practitioner it is possible to work through a variety of issues that help prevent you from slipping into the negative mindset.
Flashbacks/PTSD
Have you ever experienced a situation or event in your life that every now and again for whatever reason...
You relive that moment in your head and it has a huge impact on your feelings or mood?
It may make you feel a bit anxious, sick, uncomfortable, cringe or heart skips?
Some of these may be fine and you can laugh it off...
But others, might ruin your day, make you feel sad or stressed, some possible HUGE events in life may feel you cant move past it?
I have found this form of therapy incredibly beneficial for these moments.
Anxiety
Anxiety can be crippling, your body and mind in a high stress zone for long periods can be exhausting. overthinking, worrying about worrying, the panic starting to kick in. It can also take a toll on your physical health.
We can be prone to just normalising "this is how i am", "I'm just a bit stressed".
It could be one main event that lead to you experiencing feeling Anxious that has continued to impact you regularly, it could be numerous events.
Feeling free from anxiety, when it is something you have, is an incredible release. Improving sleep, managing daily tasks, eating better, feeling less stressed and irritable.
Anxiety doesn't have to be a "normal" part of your life.
Stage Fright
"I had been on a work training day, where a microphone approached my direction, filled with horror and fear.... I FROZE!
Not a single word would leave my mouth and my face turned purple!
My whole body filled with panic, worry, embarrassment, humiliation...
This resulted in every group situation following this, every meeting, every social event, the panic would return and I wouldn't be able to speak.
Following a couple of IEMT sessions, concentrating on this issue, I was able to overcome this feeling as the anxiety, panic and fear was no longer there!"
Fear and Phobia
Integral Eye Movement Therapy works by detaching the feeling attached to the memory, working very well with fear and phobia's.
With your therapist it is possible to work through and find the root cause of where the problem began and prevent the fear or phobia being an ongoing issue.
A fear of flying? The dentist?
Some of these things can really impact your life, not being able to travel, or needing medical help but the fear overwhelms and prevents you from maybe doing the things you would love to do?
Talk to an IEMT Therapist to see if this method of therapy could help you.
Personal Experience
I have been riding since I was young, I was having an issue when getting on my horse and riding away from the yard.
I would get this overwhelming fear that something might just go wrong, I could get hurt, or he could, or what if...
Nothing bad had happened previously, there was no reason for this?
I received IEMT, focusing on this issue, the next day I did get on and ride away from the yard.
I was still fully conscious of the dangers, but the overwhelming fear that previously stopped my in my tracks, didn't kick in.
I have continued to practise this on myself with my personal riding skills and have gone on to help others in the same way.
